The Rockton and Rion was completed in the year 1897; A 12 mile shortline it served as the railroad for the Winnsboro Granite Company; In 1984, Martin Marietta Aggregate donated the railroad to the SC Railroad Museum which is currently operating excursion trains over part of the line.
