Laurens Railroad

The Laurens Railroad opened in 1854 and operated a 32-mile route from Newberry to Laurens SC. After the Civil War the line was abandoned until 1875, when it was bought by the Greenville and Columbia. By 1876 the line from Helena to Laurens had reopened. By 1881 it was operating as the Laurens Railway until it was bought out by the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad in 1894.
